BOOTYBAR GRAND RE-OPENING

Thanks 54

Hey everyone, just wanted to drop a note about how excited I am for this weekend not only is it Super Bowl Weekend (like I even know who's playing) but I have a very special event scheduled: closing the iconic Studio 54. On Saturday night, I will start off

my night at Marquee as usual, and then skip on over to Studio 54. At 1 am I will take the main stage and be the last DJ to spin this Venue before it closes for good, at MGM GRAND. In case many of you don't know, 54 is where I got my start in nightclubs and as a DJ. I was hired there as an "entertaining bartender" playing percussion from bar utensil and slinging drinks to the masses. 54 is essentially where I fell in love with nightlife, and the art of DJ'ing.

At the time, I was just DJ'ing for fun, making a grip of cash as a bartender, and buying toys like turntables and audio systems. I never conceptualized that I wanted to be someday be a DJ. I just loved music, and since I wasn't drumming anymore for a living, it fulfilled my musical outlet. I started off making mix tapes for myself and my friends of nothing more than my favorite songs. Nothing technical, or fancy, but real records, pressed on real vinyl, and the mix was just a good old fashioned mix tape made of basic beat matching. It was Frankie Anobile (DJ Frankie) that convinced me to really go after being a DJ as a career. I eventually ended up resigning from 54 as a bartender, and chose to really pursue DJ'ing. I took the leap of faith, quit a very high paying job to become a starving artist / unemployed DJ living from gig to gig. I didn't starve too long, within weeks, I was quickly picked up by Tao nightclub, (thanks Omar) and became the resident DJ for Tao group, this was 3 years ago. That led to Tao, Lavo, and the biggest and baddest TAO club of all, Marquee. I had no idea, back in the day, that all those moves were little stepping stones, to this.. an amazing DJ Career, traveling the world, being sponsored and endorsed... and really enjoying life.

So, now, to end where it all began, and be asked to close out 54, the club that I made so many friends and memories with and in, is a great honor. I heard that many of the crew have made arrangements to come back from where-ever they went after 54 (probably, leading their real and normal lives out of the club business) to also be a part of this end of an era. This is in sorts much of a high school or family reunion of the club that created the monster of club evolution in Vegas.

As someone I once new had plastered on his Mercedes SLK "Thanks 54".
